May is here and what an April we all experienced.
Hopefully, it’s nothing we will ever experience again. This time in our lives will be written in the history books as the biggest event to ever hit our planet. And, unfortunately, we are still living it.
But I think it’s time to stop with the finger pointing and get back to life. I hope you’re like me and sick of the news media bringing despair and hopelessness to a society who needs hope, joy, and something to look forward to over the coming days, weeks, and months.
I want to do my part and let you know that we at Throwzone are taking back from what this invisible virus has done in disrupting our lives and are turning it into a positive.
Make no mistake about it, our lives will never be the same.
Hugs and handshakes will probably be so 2019 when all is said and done. I’m a hugger and handshaker, so I may have to adapt to this new normal and elbow bump for the rest of the year. I accept that wearing masks is just something we may have to do. With the announcement that masks have to be worn on all air travel, this may be the new TSA of the 2020 era where lines are set up for travel and articles of clothing have to be removed and scanned. Ok, I accept it.
But for the life of me, I refuse to continue being told when I can come out of the house and enjoy the atmosphere of a restaurant or the clanking of weights in a gymnasium. We have done our part very well to get to where we are today. In fact, we have jumped through all the hoops that have been asked of us. It seems to be the opinion of the masses that the amount of sickness and death we were told of just doesn’t add up to the hysteria March and April brought us, and we are ready to move on in our lives.
With that in mind, Throwzone Academy is taking steps to begin moving forward in our business operations and working with players.
We started very slowly, a crawl in fact, by seeing players on a 1-on-1 basis, but I do believe that our format of working with players individually will end when June arrives. Our business model works better with group formats, and it’s my hope that an announcement will come within the next 2-3 weeks of going back to a normal schedule of group classes at 4:00pm and 6:00pm for the summer months.
What I am even more excited about is the announcement that our summer training camp will proceed beginning June 8th and last for 8 weeks through July.
We’re not out of the woods yet.
Our official announcement plans will be made soon, but with obvious restrictions in place. The plan is for our camp size to be limited to 12 players in the morning and 12 in the afternoon.
Our youth camp will also be limited to 12 players.
All the safety precautions will be put into place, including taking digital temperatures and hand washing before each session. But we’re putting plans in place to be ready to get back to baseball.
This world needs to be lived as if today is the most important day. Our officials speak of gloom and doom and human nature wants positivity and something to look forward to. This is my hope for all of those whose children play baseball. We’re getting back to baseball, and it’s my mission to provide that opportunity in any manner we can.
Surely things will be different, but as humans we always learn to adjust and that’s what we’re doing!
You’ll receive more notifications about summer camp during the month as we narrow down exact dates, times and such. I look forward to welcoming all of you back to our little niche of baseball, even if it is once a week.
Throwzone is going to be a busy location for the summer, and we look forward to you being a part of it.
Until next time,
P.S.: As an aside to the training that we do, one of the more important devices we encourage players to use as part of their training is the MarcPro (www.marcpro.com). This unit provides recovery and relief to players with tired shoulders, elbows, and other parts of the body. These units are top-of-the-line devices that can travel anywhere with players due its compact size and small carrying case. We are an affiliate with MarcPro, and they have offered Throwzone clients a 20% discount off of all units! When you order from MarcPro, apply the coupon code Throwzone to the code box and it will automatically reduce the price by 20%. Typically it’s a 10% discount, but until May 31st, 2020 it will be 20%. I wanted to make sure you were aware of it if you were thinking of buying one down the road. My players have used it over the last 8 years and most MLB teams have dozens of units in their clubhouses. NO MORE ICING!!
