As August descends upon us, there are many areas of our daily lives to think of as time continually passes us by.
School is starting this week for many students. The class of ’23 graduates are packing their belongings before heading out to the college of their choice. High school, middle school, and elementary-age students are getting their supplies and new clothes for the upcoming school year. Parents are relieved to have their children out of the house and back into the classrooms again. The family unit is returning to its sense of reality with schedules in place.
But with school starting, children’s sports schedules start up again, too. Football is already in full swing, and baseball will pick up in the next few weeks with new teams and new hope for a great travel ball or rec league season. It’s also a very busy time for Throwzone Academy, where students return for training and get their bodies and arms in shape for the long baseball season.
As our group classes take shape, it’s important to know that injuries can play a part with athletes, whatever sport they may play, and that taking the time and effort to coordinate their schedules to strengthen their bodies before games begin is critical. In many cases, we may not bring the radar gun out for very long that first week of training; we don’t focus on anything but development.
When my sons played tackle football, the first week was conditioning without equipment. The second week was shoulder pads and helmets only, and the third week was full pads. Football does things correctly by conditioning first before playing any game.
Unfortunately, baseball teams don’t use these same standards in most cases.
Games always get scheduled quickly after only a week or two of practicing twice a week. That’s where continual training with Throwzone can help build up arm strength, speed up recovery, and work on correcting throwing patterns to build a healthy arm, in addition to the lower back, core, and other body parts that support the throwing arm.
Along with our weekly training, one of the biggest events of the year for Throwzone is our Elite Pitchers Boot Camp with the Texas Baseball Ranch coaching group, running what is the best weekend of baseball and pitching training in all of California (and the West Coast, for that matter). You can find all the information on the boot camp at https://throwzone.com/2023-elite-pitchers-boot-camp/.
Coach Ron Wolforth and the entire TBR team run the clinic for 3 days, and it’s the perfect blend of training and learning how to prepare for a long season with all facets of baseball pitching and throwing being the weekend’s centerpiece (September 22–24). Training of this caliber sets the wheels in motion for years to come and is the perfect jump start to gaining velocity and remaining healthy throughout the calendar year.
As this is our biggest event of the year, I want to be sure you know that space is limited and will get capped off at 28 players. As of this writing, there are 16 players committed. If you want to know that the return on your investment is going to the right place, then know that every year we run this (18 years now), the comments and reviews we receive are ALL glowing and have put baseball training into perspective for each of the players and their parents who have come through our camp—over 485 players and counting! Spending money on showcases and weeklong baseball-cations does nothing to improve development; it only brings soreness and no coaches contacting you after expensive showcase outings.
The final word on this camp (SoCal EPBC only) is that over 72+ players have moved on to Division 1 baseball or professional ball, including two MLB players, four more who are now in AA and AAA, and one is a September call-up away from their own Major League debut. Read the testimonials at our link to see what other players and their families think.
It’s a weekend that can be truly life-changing if you can decide to join us today.
And as always, we’re just a phone call away from having your son become the best baseball player he can be!
Openings are available during the week for our weekly group classes, too. They are the perfect fit for getting your son’s arm and body back into baseball shape!!
Until next time…
Jim
